We strongly believe that the joint efforts of IGI and NET4CO2 will surely bring new horizons into the Portuguese CCUS strategic goals.”

Tiago Cunha | Project Manager, IGI

The partnership between Rose & Associates and NET4CO2 will model the potential range of CO2 that can be sequestered for different selection sites. This will facilitate a consistent and robust appraisal of the CO2 storage potential on all Portuguese Territory.”

Project Description

The main goal is to develop a strategic CO2 storage plan at national level, to develop a unified vision of potential storage capacity, business models and support implementation of an adequate regulatory framework. This will be done through an integrated geological, geophysical and reservoir data interpretation of the offshore basins in the Portuguese territory focusing on evaluation of geotechnical risks and volumetrics.

•Well data evaluation and petrophysical interpretation

•Seal and reservoir rock evaluation

•Seismic interpretation and mapping of potential storage structures

•Pore Pressure, Fracture gradients and Geomechanical characterization of seals

•Seal mineralogy and CO2 chemical reactivity

•Lead and prospect assessment: storage volumetrics and geotechnical risks

•Seismicity hazard assessment

•Geological static modelling

•Flow simulation modelling including injection rates, development strategies and simulation scenarios

•Storage Resources Evaluation and classification

•Conceptual development plan for the potential opportunities
