Project Description
This project focuses on the collection, analysis, and synthesis of sustainability reports from leading Portuguese industrial companies to understand their commitments and projections regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The goal is to extract, structure, and analyze data related to emissions forecasts up to 2050 and identify the strategies and mitigation measures these companies are adopting. The project also aims to evaluate how these corporate forecasts align with Portugal’s national climate targets for 2030. The outcome will include a white paper providing a consolidated view of private sector ambitions versus national objectives, highlighting potential gaps, synergies, and opportunities for collaboration in the decarbonization pathway.
Main Outcomes
•Database of Industrial Emissions Forecasts
Structured dataset compiling GHG emissions projections from major Portuguese companies based on publicly available sustainability reports.
•Inventory of Emission Reduction Strategies
Summary of reported decarbonization measures, technologies, and roadmaps declared by industry players across different sectors.
•Gap Analysis Between Corporate and National Targets
Analytical comparison of company-level emissions forecasts and Portugal’s national climate commitments, especially for 2030 and 2050.
•White Paper on Emission Forecasting in Portuguese Industry
Comprehensive document summarizing findings, highlighting trends, and offering insights into how industrial targets align—or diverge—from national policies.
