3D seismic interpretation for CO2 storage characterization on the Iberian southwest margin

The BSc research project aims to characterise and refine the storage capacity of identified (potential) subsurface CO₂ storage sites on the Alentejo Basin (SW Iberia). Utilising 2D and 3D seismic reflection data, detailed mapping of the subsurface reservoir and immediate seals units to produce morphological surface maps. These will provide the base for seismic attribute analysis to identify subsurface structural and stratigraphic character, aiming to provide insights on intra-unit heterogeneities and compartmentalization potential. A key output will be the volume estimation of storage potential under a set of varying complexity scenarios.
