From June 10–13, CoLAB NET4CO2 proudly participated in the EAGE Annual Conference in Oslo, Norway, one of the world’s leading events for geoscience, energy, and engineering professionals. Our team presented the abstract entitled “Unravelling Geomechanical Challenges for Geological Sequestration of CO₂ in the Algarve Basin – Offshore Portugal.”

This research explores the geomechanical factors influencing CO₂ storage in offshore reservoirs, a crucial step toward safe and efficient carbon sequestration. By addressing reservoir stability, caprock integrity, and long-term containment, the study contributes to advancing CCUS solutions in Portugal and beyond. Participating in EAGE 2024 provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, networking with global experts, and fostering collaborations aimed at accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future.
